This month’s fire safety tip comes from Lt. Brian Deckard, who has been a firefighter for seven years. Before becoming a firefighter, he was an emergency room technician in a hospital. Like many other firefighters, the profession runs in his family. Deckard said he was influenced to become a firefighter by his father, who volunteered at the Peyton Fire Protection District. He is married and in his off-duty hours, he likes to go hiking with his dogs and fishing with his brother.January Fire Safety Tip: Make sure your sidewalks are free of ice. Deckard also suggests helping elderly neighbors clear their sidewalks. He said that this time of year there are a lot of slips and falls on icy sidewalks.Stay connected with the Falcon Fire Protection DistrictWebsite: http://www.falconfirepd.orgFacebook: Falcon Fire DepartmentTwitter: @FalconFireDeptNextDoor.com
