Stacy Packer, the owner of Scorched Earth Haunted Farm, spent the month of October creating and perfecting a haunted maze at Smith Farms ó all in the name of giving back to the community.All profits from the haunt will be donated to the Falcon Fire Protection District, Patriot High School in El Paso County School District 49 and a few families in need of assistance this holiday season.Parker has been running the haunted house for 15 years. ìThe haunt itself is a little different from the haunts youíll see in town and around Colorado,î Packer said. ìBecause we donít rely on heavy animatronics, weíre very actor oriented. We rely on them to jump out at you and give you those old fashion boo scares.îPacker said she relies on the team around her to make it as best as possible. ìIím not very good at taking a hammer to things,î Packer said. ìBut they come in and make it happen. I never have to worry about getting it done in time, because I always know that theyíre always going to meet the schedule.îThe team includes Troy Hollowell, operations manager, and Taylor Wadsworth, designer of all the costumes.ìItís more than just a haunt,î Packer said. ìItís a family.î
