To celebrate the start of a new school year, here are some funny interactions teachers have had with their studentsí parents.A parent sent a box of cake mix and a can of frosting with a note to the teacher saying that it was for her daughterís birthday later that week, and then asked the teacher if she could please make it?A parent asked me one year if I could watch her kid after school because she couldnít get to school in time to pick him up, and she said,ìWhat did I do after all the kids were gone anyway?îOur school policy is to put book covers on all hardback books. At the beginning of a school year, I sent home a social studies book with a note that said, ìPlease cover this book and return it tomorrow.î The next morning, one mom brought her son in. She handed the book to me and said, ìIím sorry, we were so busy last night, there is no way we could read this whole book.îOn ìSusieísî birthday, I met her and her mom at my door early in the morning. I said, ìHappy Birthday Susie!î Her mom looked at me funny, looked at Susie, and then looked very embarrassed while she said, ìOh! Happy Birthday!î She had completely forgotten.A parent thought her daughter shouldnít have the spelling words lick and like marked incorrect since they were spelled correctly, except she wrote lick for like and like for lick.Excuse note: ìSusie will be checked out early today. We are getting her hair and nails done.îExcuse note:†ìJohnnyís homework is done, itís just at home, so you can give him credit.î(These are reasons teachers need more money.)
