New traffic patterns at Woodmen and Meridian

Additional turn lanes and acceleration and deceleration lanes, along with an additional traffic signal will accommodate increased traffic at the corner of Woodmen and Meridian roads. King Soopers will be built in that area in Falcon Marketplace.Jeff Rice, an engineer with the El Paso County Planning and Development Department, explained the plans for the turn lanes and accessibility to Falcon Marketplace. Rice said there will be a left-turn lane northbound on Meridian at the intersection with Eastonville Road. A traffic light will be installed at that intersection to regulate traffic going into the entrance of the marketplace. On Meridian southbound, there will be an acceleration/deceleration lane that runs from the northern edge of the marketplace on Meridian Road southward to the intersection at Woodmen Road to accommodate motorists entering and exiting the marketplace from the entrance at the intersection of Meridian and Eastonville roads. The acceleration lane will become a right-turn lane at Woodmen and merge into the existing right-turn lane. This lane will also be accessible to another entrance to the marketplace. At 1,100 feet west of the Woodmen/Meridian intersection, there will be another entrance to the marketplace.Separate from this project is an acceleration/deceleration lane, which is being built on Meridian between Bent Grass Meadows and Owl Place by the developer of the Bent Grass Meadows subdivision.
