Falcon Fire Protection District (FFPD)

Safety tip

This month’s fire safety tip is from firefighter Aaron Dawkins, who likes to spend his off-duty hours with his wife and three children and also plays basketball, football and racquetball. Before becoming a firefighter, Dawkins worked for the county human services department. About three or four years ago, he decided to visit the fire station. After that visit, he was hooked on becoming a firefighter. He attended firefighting academy and was a reserve firefighter for two years. Dawkins has been a full-time firefighter for about one year. Like many firefighters, what he likes best about his job is the ability to help people.Safety tip: With people deep frying turkeys for the holidays, Dawkins offers the following tips: Make sure the cooker is on a flat surface. Always wear eye protection and gloves. Have a fire extinguisher handy. Use the correct amount of oil. If the oil smokes, turn the burner off. Raise and lower the turkey slowly to prevent splashing hot oil. And keep children away from the cooking turkey.Stay connected with the Falcon Fire Protection DistrictWebsite: http://www.falconfirepd.orgFacebook: Falcon Fire DepartmentTwitter: @FalconFireDeptNextDoor.com
