The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting Oct. 3; it was a full meeting with 30 members and several guests were present. The chamber would like to thank the guest speaker for the October meeting.The mission of Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce is to develop and maintain a nonprofit organization made up of area business professionals, and to promote and market the services of its members. As an organization of professionals, the chamber will use its resources and talent to support worthy community projects.†If you or your organization would like to be part of the Eastern Plains Chamber or you would like to be a speaker at an upcoming meeting, contact us at board@easternplainschamber.com.The Eastern plains Chamber of Commerce meets the first Wednesday of each month, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 9475 Grace Church View in Falcon.Special parents night at Falcon High SchoolFalcon High School, along with Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring a parents night with Value Up Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. at Falcon High School.†The cost to sponsor this event is $500, and for those interested in helping with the cost for this worthwhile program, contact the chamber or just drop off a check at Falcon High School (made out to Falcon High School).Value Up, which is based in Colorado, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reaching out and enriching the lives of young people worldwide.The presenter for the evening is Mike Donahue, the executive director and founder of Value-Up. Mike is one of the most sought after speakers in the country on the subject of respect, bullying, and diversity. His candid style and authentic persona keep the students engaged right from his first words. Mike hails from Boston and was a member of the United States Air Force; he began his career as a youth director and youth pastor. He is the father of four children.Mike Donahue has spoken to more than one million students. He has spent the last 25 years working with young people all over the world, helping them find purpose and define themselves as they navigate the often- difficult transition from childhood to adulthood. In addition to traveling the United States, Asia, South America and Europe speaking to young people, Mike has authored four books: ìReinventing My Normal,î ìHidden Scars,î ìTalking to Brick Walls,î and his newest book, ìValue Up.î
