On Oct. 13 and Oct. 14, Front Street in Peyton, Colorado, came alive as three local businesses participated in a grand opening event that celebrated not only the businesses but also the revitalization of downtown.Guests enjoyed snacks and giveaways while checking out the unique style of each boutique.Haley Jís Boutique, owned by Lisa Kane, set up shop in Peyton after a delay in construction at The Shops at Meridian Ranch in Falcon prompted her to move on. Because of the delay, Kane was able to get out of her lease ó and now she is happy with her new location. Kane said the downtown buildings are similar to each other and look more like modified houses. ìWe like the quaintness of it,î she said.Haley Jís offers bohemian style clothing that is comfortable yet stylish and appropriate for women of all ages, Kane said. She also carries plus-size clothing, purses, decorative pillows, coffee cups, jewelry and other accessories.Lindsay Kawakamiís business, Lindsayís Cottage, has been in Peyton for three years but she is starting fresh at her current location, she said. The two-story cottage is decorated with the inventory Kawakami sells and staged so that each room has items in it specific to that roomís purpose.New to this location is the attached bakery, which offers homemade baked goods and other sweet treats, she said.Kawakami said the close proximity of each shop also offers a destination shopping experience. People can come to Peyton and spend the afternoon.Starla Baker, owner of Frankie-Jeanís, said her two grandmothers inspired the name of her shop. And part of her inventory ñ- her homemade jellies ñ- also harkens back to the two women, Frankie and Jean, since they taught her how to make the jellies, Baker said.Other items in Frankie-Jeanís inventory include home dÈcor such as handmade-wine-bottle candle holders, clothing and accessories.Baker plans to host ladies nights in Frankie-Jeanís. ìI want people to have a good hometown location to come to,î she said.Check out the stores for the business hours.
