On Nov. 15, the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners approved a rezoning request from Prairie Stone LLC for the Honeywood Recreational Vehicle Park, which is on the north side of Judge Orr Road, about one-third mile east of the U.S. Highway 24 and Judge Orr intersection. Originally zoned as a planned unit development, the approval re-designates the area as RVP zoning.According to the BOCCís resolution approving the request, the 39.9-acre park will be a temporary site for occupied recreational vehicles. Although RVP zoning allows for stops ranging from short overnight stays to several weeks, the zoning does not allow for the use of the park as a permanent residence for recreational vehicle users. The BOCCís resolution also states that no more than 250 recreational vehicle parking pads can be constructed on the property. Each pad will include an electrical service pedestal, potable water yard hydrant and a sanitary sewer connection.Prairie Stoneís letter of intent states that, at full buildout, the park could include a guard house/check-in facility; restroom and shower facilities; laundromat; convenience store for park guests; propane sales facility for park guests; public gathering/shade structures for picnics and barbecues; fenced dumpster enclosures; boat and recreational vehicle storage; other enclosed storage; a sand volleyball pit; and a horseshoe pit.Additionally, the letter states that landscaping, including a mixture of evergreen and deciduous trees and turf grass, will be installed.
