Like it or not, the holidays are coming. Whether traveling to visit family or hosting guests at home, be sure that everyone knows what to do in case of a fire.
- Have an escape plan for every floor in the home, practice it and share it with visitors.
- Instruct visitors to call 911 in an emergency.
- Ensure all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are up to date and have fresh batteries.
- If staying in a hotel:
- Take time to review the emergency exit map on the door.
- Physically walk the hallway to locate primary and secondary exits.
- Count the number of doors between the room and the exit.
- Report locked emergency exits to management immediately.
