Fundraiser for animals raises $16,000

On Aug. 14, the Little River Band Benefit Concert for the National Mill Dog Rescue in Peyton raised $16,000 ó 100 percent will go toward the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of discarded commercial breeding dogs received from puppy mills.Following Rhonda and Wayne Nelsonís visit to the National Mill Dog Rescue in June, Little River Band wanted to give back to the rescue. More than 800 concert attendees and volunteers enjoyed†the outdoor concert held at NMDR facility Lilyís Haven.The National Mill Dog Rescue is a 501c3 volunteer organization.Hailing from Australia, the Little River Band distinguished themselves as one of the great vocal bands of the 70s and 80s, with hits such as ìReminiscing,î ìLonesome Loser,î ìThe Night Owlî and ìTake it Easy on Me.îWith more than 30 million albums sold and 13 American Top 40 hits, the band continues to tour and members include Greg Hind, Rich Herring, Ryan Ricks, Chris Marion and Wayne Nelson.
