The Black Forest Community Center paid homage to the days of Americaís Wild West at its 2016 Black Forest Festival of the same theme on Saturday, Aug. 11. Hundreds of visitors from Black Forest and surrounding communities converged at the Community Center on Black Forest Road throughout the day to enjoy local vendors, animals, live music, food and much more.Kicking off the annual celebration at 6:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, the festival included a morning parade and the traditional outhouse races. Pioneer demos and games, ranch-hand activities, Native American heritage highlights, the history of the Black Forest settlement, costume and art contests and live music provided by the United States Air Force Academy Blue Steel Band were among the eventís several attractions.The annual event is hosted by the Black Forest Community Club in celebration of Black Forest and to show off the beauty of the community.
