The AARP Foundation in Washington DC has awarded Donald Von Gunden the title of Tax-Aide Fellow for his distinguished service as a certified tax-aide volunteer. Von Gunden is only the fourth person in Colorado, and the only one in 2016, to receive this honor.The esteemed title of Tax-Aide Fellow recognizes his long and distinguished service to the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. To qualify, the person must have been recommended by the Colorado Tax-Aide coordinator, John Meredith, and served more than 10 years as a certified counselor, with at least some time in a leadership position.In a congratulations letter, Lynnette Lee Villanueva, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide vice president, recognized Von Gunden as an ongoing significant contributor to the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program and the many taxpayers served in the community. A distinctive lapel pin, to be worn with his official Tax-Aide nametag, accompanied the award letter.During 2016, Von Gunden was one of the 500 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers in Colorado, serving state taxpayers by assisting in the preparation of their state and federal income taxes at no cost. He is also active in community service activities and serves as vice president of Black Forest AARP Chapter #1100.
