On Sept. 27, JAKs Brewing Co. of Falcon, Colorado, hosted a fundraising event to support childhood cancer awareness. The event included a 5K run, and all of the proceeds were donated to Hope 4 Heroes, a Founding Hope Program, which is affiliated with the American Childhood Cancer Organization. Hope 4 Heroes serves Colorado families with children who have been diagnosed with cancer.Twenty-six local vendors set up booths to sell their wares and promote their businesses, while a bounce house and face-painting station entertained the kids in attendance. JAKs served fresh brownies and root beer floats, made with their own home-brewed root beer. Rocky Mountain BBQ and La Mission Mexican Restaurant also provided food for the event.Tony Lee, chief executive officer of JAKs, said the 5K race had a suggested donation amount of $10 each runner; and, in the end, 300 people participated. ìOver 600 attendees showed up, and it was a huge success,î he said.
