The “Wind farm health issuesî article in the September issue of The New Falcon Herald, stated the following: îResidents of Brown County, Wisconsin, also decided to speak up when the Shirley Wind Farm, owned by Duke Energy, was under construction.” †However, the Shirley Wind Farm project was already completed at the time the residents approached the Brown County Board of Health about the dangers of wind turbines.†The residents used the information gathered from studying the Shirley Wind Farm project, along with other scientific documentation, and were subsequently successful in stopping the construction of a different wind farm project, called the Ledge Wind Energy Center, proposed by Invenergy LLC. †Additionally, Barbara Vanden Boogart said Susan Ashley, a resident who left her home with her family because of the adverse effects of the Shirley Wind Farm project, was the key presenter at the Oct. 14, 2014, Board of Health meeting. It was at that meeting when the Shirley Wind Farm project was officially declared a human health hazard.†Vanden Boogart was quoted as saying, “They (Duke Energy) were planning to put up 100 turbines within our town and two other adjacent ones, with six on our country block alone.” †However, Duke Energy did not own the wind farm Vanden Boogart had referenced.†The wind farm she spoke of was the Ledge Wind Energy Center, proposed by Invenergy.
