A 2015 WalletHub survey identified states that are home to the happiest Americans. They compared 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 key metrics, ranging from emotional health to income levels to sports participation rates.Colorado ranked No. 4 overallThe top three: Utah ranked No. 1 overall; Minnesota took the No. 2 spot; and Hawaii came in at No. 3.Colorado came in at No. 3 for emotional and physical well-being; No. 18 for work environment; and No. 8 for community, environment and recreational opportunities.Colorado ranked No. 2 in the adequate sleep category and No. 3 in low rates of obesity (Washington D.C. and Hawaii came in No. 1 and 2 respectively in the obesity category).Coloradoís rank as the state with the highest sports participation is No. 1.Of note: West Virginia was the lowest ranked at No. 50 in the overall category.Utah is the only state with multiple No. 1 rankings in the categories.
