The American Legion Riders Dane R. Balcon Post 2008 in Falcon are spearheading the welcoming committee that will line Highway 24 in show of support for the veterans riding in the “Run for the Wallî 2015.†The “Run for the Wall” started in 1989, and adds riders every year.†The ride starts May 13 in Ontario, Canada, and ends at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D. C. May 23. †The riders have been traveling through Colorado for many years; however, last year they bypassed this area by heading out of Pueblo via Highway 50 to La Junta, then up to Highway 70. †Mike Hall, the American Legion Riders Post 38 Commander (Fountain) and the district’s junior vice commander, fought to change the route because of all the military and veterans in the area. In 2014, the route was changed to depart Pueblo (where the riders fuel up and eat, which is paid for by the American Legion Riders) then travel through Fountain, Colorado Springs and Falcon enroute to Limon. Please join in welcoming the riders. The American Legion Riders in Falcon are asking Falconites to come out with signs and flags, showing support for veterans riding through Falcon May 16.Margo Humes and Robin Widmar of the Falcon Fire Department will have their fire engines lining Highway 24, and a food truck is also in the works. Riders are expected to leave Pueblo at 12:45 p.m., and the local riders would like everyone to start lining up on Highway 24 at 1 p.m.Check out the website at http://rftw.org for more information about Run for the Wall.
