FFPD September board meeting

The Falcon Fire Protection District held its regular board meeting Sept. 17. All seated directors were present, as was attorney Alan Call, legal counsel for the district.SDA conferenceDirector Kelly Starkman attended the Special District Association conference. He spoke highly of two particular workshops related to fire code issues and fire district mergers. (FFPD is not actively pursuing any mergers at this time.)Treasurer and chiefís reportsFire Chief Trent Harwig was on vacation but submitted written reports on administrative issues.As of August 30, the total expenditures are 2 percent under budget. Bob Irwin from Dublin Town Center inquired about the potential exclusion of a parcel of land from the district. The installation of a cistern at the Black Forest Reserve is still in progress.Attorneyís reportAttorney Alan Call reported that the district is still working with the county Emergency Services Authority to finalize an agreement regarding countywide ambulance transport services. The ESA agreement does not affect FFPDís stand-alone agreement with American Medical Response to provide those services in the district. The formal Memorandum of Understanding with the city of Colorado Springs for fire plan reviews is still in process.Executive session and director orientationThe board adjourned into executive session to receive legal counsel regarding personnel matters. Following the executive session, board members participated in director orientation provided by the districtís legal counsel.
