High Plains Helping Hands is hosting an Ice Cream Social Family Fun Event and Silent Auction (lots of great items) Aug. 23, from 1 ñ 4 pm at their location at 7375 Adventure Way in Colorado Springs. In addition to ice cream or frozen yogurt with favorite toppings, there will be bounce houses, a mini petting zoo, face painting and a Colorado Springs fire engine. The money raised will go toward the Helping Hands Food Pantry expansion/walk-in cooler and freezer project. Tickets are $5 each, or $20 total for a family of five-plus.
