In December, Falcon Middle School held a reception for the participants in this yearís Reflections program, which promotes the arts. Students from grades six to eight submitted original works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and the visual arts.Eight students participated in this yearís competition, themed ìBelieve, Dream, Inspire.î The entries were judged on a local level, and each first, second and third place winner received a gift card. All participants will go on to compete at a regional level.In 1969, Mary Lou Anderson, the Colorado PTA president at the time, started the Reflections program. In its 40-plus-year history, the program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and those enrolled in American schools overseas to create works of art for fun and recognition. The competition is open to pre-school students through grade 12.
