When you need a friend, you never know who will show up. This Florida gopher tortoise was blind and in poor health when she was brought to wildlife rehabilitator Linda Christian. A week after a feeding tube was inserted the tortoise regained her eyesight and perked up a bit. Linda’s cat couldn’t resist hanging out with this female gopher tortoise – one of the many who exist throughout Florida. They are a threatened species in the sunshine state; commercial and residential ground excavation practices have buried alive many of these great creatures.
