Alongside the usual Fourth of July celebrations, Falcon folks honored the firefighters and first responders who worked hard to battle the Black Forest fire.Tim Hunker, Falcon Freedom Days creator and organizer, said the proceeds ñ totaling $3,600 ñ from one of the days of the festival went to Care and Shareís relief efforts for Black Forest families.After the Black Forest fire, the Falcon festival fireworks were canceled; later, the ban was lifted a few days prior to the Fourth. However, Hunker said they didnít have time to get a permit.Fireworks or not, the three-day festival drew plenty of people and offered a variety of activities, including a train station, face painting, inflatable bouncers and the Flying W Wrangles. The CreekView Grill at Meridian Ranch was on site to provide great food, and Sox the Fox from the SkySox team ensured the 2,000-plus crowd did not get bored.Hunker said he has a ìwonderful staff that makes Falcon Freedom Days happen.î He is already looking for volunteers for next year.
