HHFP in challenge to end hunger

Helping Hands Food Pantry is participating in the 2013 $1 million Feinstein Challenge to End Hunger during the months of March and April. Last year, donors contributed $15,439.49 and 13,535 pounds of food (which they value at $1 per pound), giving the pantry a total of $28,974.49. As a result, Helping Hands received a check for $317.46 from the Feinstein Foundation. Giving to Helping Hands Food Pantry in March or April as a result of the Feinstein Challenge means extra donations. This year Helping Hands hopes to increase the total raised to $40,000, so the pantry receives even more of the $1 million given to anti-hunger agencies.Facts about the challenge:Alan Shawn Feinstein, a philanthropist from Cranston, R.I., divides $1 million annually among anti-hunger agencies nationwide.Anti-hunger agencies have fundraising drives from March 1 to April 30 to end hunger in the name of The Feinstein Challenge.All the agencies make a report to The Feinstein Foundation showing proof of money and food donated for the Feinstein Challenge.The Feinstein Foundation divides $1 million among all of the qualifying agencies, proportionately to the amount of money and food raised by each agency.Please indicate ìFeinstein Challengeî on the check or include a note for cash or food donations.
