In November, Falcon Middle School hosted a reception for the participants in this yearís Reflections program, sponsored by the PTA. Students from grades 6 to 8 were encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and the visual arts, such as drawing, painting, print making and collage.†A total of 15 entries from 13 students (two students had multiple entries) from Falcon Middle School participated in the competition. Each entry was based on this yearís theme ñ ìThe Magic of a Moment.î The entries were judged on a local level and will go on to compete at a regional level. The Reflections program was started in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, the Colorado PTA president at the time. In its 40-year history, the program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to create works of art for fun and recognition. Through Reflections, the PTA recognizes students for their artistic efforts at local, regional, state and national levels.
