Rumor has it that a few of the entertainers who worked together at the Flying W Ranch are thinking about starting a chuck wagon venue somewhere on the prairie ñ most likely Falcon. The Flying W Ranch ñ a Colorado Springs staple for years ñ burned to the ground during the Waldo Canyon Fire.Also, the El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department has been adding amenities like picnic tables to the area surrounding the pond (also known as Drake Lake) along Mallard Drive. A wooden fence will soon be installed between the roadway and the pond. Rumor has it the improvements are the first step in creating a full-blown recreation area, complete with a lake for swimming and boating.
