Starting in June, Falcon residents will have a new activity for the whole family to enjoy: the Falcon Rodeo, which will run one weekend each month throughout the summer at the Latigo Ranch.ìThere’s nothing in Falcon that is family friendly that people can come enjoy,î said Kaili Sander, founder and director of the Falcon Rodeo. ìI just thought it would be great for an entire family to have something to do.îSander said she prides herself in being from a ìrodeo familyî that includes an uncle who competed as a professional team roper. The Falcon Rodeo will include bull riding, barrel racing, trick riding, bronco riding and mutton busting (youngsters riding sheep). A livestock contractor will provide the animals, Sander said.To invite competitors for the events, Sander said she will be putting up fliers so residents can sign up to compete. The rodeo will need at least three competitors for each event.ìWe’ll be giving away cash prizes and belt buckles for first-place finishers in each category,î Sander said. The entry fee to the rodeo will provide prize money, and Montana Silversmiths will supply the belt buckles, she said.Sander said the details are still being worked out, but sponsors can opt to have a booth at the rodeo as well to display and sell their wares. The Falcon Rodeo will take place June 16, July 28, Aug. 25 and Sept. 15. Sander said events will start at 6 p.m. and the order will be determined by the number of contestants entered in each event, although barrel racing and bull riding will be last.Admission is $6 for adults, $3.50 for kids ages 5 to 13 and free for kids under age 5.
