The Exchange Club of Falconís Youth of the Month for October is Katelyn Pitman, a student at Falcon High School. Pitman has a GPA of 4.05 and ranks 13 out of a class of 282 students. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has received awards from the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Command Aerospace and Technology Program at the University of New Mexico. Pitman received the ìOutstanding Junior Awardî from the University of Colorado and recognition at the Summer Leadership School, Air Force Academy. She is an avid golfer and participates at the championship level of high school players in Colorado. She has served in numerous leadership positions, including senior class member in the Air Force Junior ROTC program and drill team and captain of the girlsí golf team. Pitman will pursue a degree in environmental engineering, aerospace or business management.Jessica Banks has been recognized as the Youth of the Month for November. Banks ranks second in her class, with a 3.95 GPA, and is on the Principalís List and the Honor Roll at Peyton High School. Her leadership skills were highlighted in student government when she became vice president in the school year 2009-2010 followed by the presidency in 2010-2011. As a member of the drama production crew, she developed posters and advertisements for plays. Outside of school, Banks teaches Vacation Bible School and participates in the ìTeen of the Rockies Encounter Christî organization. She is also a member of the committee for veteransí breakfast; she works at the soup kitchen and helps with bake sales, the Easter egg hunt and elementary craft day.Banks would like to use her art to inspire others and is considering art therapy or public presentation as possible career goals. She has applied to Colorado State University at Fort Collins, Pikes Peak Community College and Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.Congratulations and best of luck to both recipients of the Youth of the Month awards!
