Cars were lined up for the start of the July recycling event at Big R in Falcon. The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce in coordination with the Falcon Lions Club hosted the fundraiser, with profits going to Sgt. Jeffrey Adams.The recycling event helped raise money for fees and costs related to building and maintaining Adams’ new home, built for him by Homes for Our Troops. During the event, 3,365 pounds of electronics, 2,500 pounds of paper, 290 tires, 89 gallons of paint and 62 light bulbs and batteries were collected for recycling.”It was a huge success,” said Ann McNeill, owner of Proforma Mark-It Pros and secretary and events coordinator for the chamber. “People were very generous with their contributions and their donations. We had over 70 cars come through and lots of financial donations from people recycling, as well as businesses.”BlueStar Recyclers, Batteries Plus, Mobile Record Shredders, American Tire Exchange and Paint Recyclers in Pueblo provided recycling services.Adams was grateful to all those who supported the event. “I want to thank everyone for supporting recycling and for the fundraiser,” he said.
