Operation Homefront of Colorado is helping military families get their children ready to go back to school. The nonprofit organization is now collecting new school supplies for children of all ages to save low-income military families a major expense.”School supplies are expensive – yet important,” said Carol Ann Mountjoy, chapter president of Operation Homefront of Colorado. “Without donations from the community, low-income military families are forced to spend hundreds of dollars to properly equip their children for a good education.”Items needed for back to school include backpacks, spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, notebook paper, rulers, colored pencils, calculators, erasers and more. Items for donation can be placed in a collection bin at any Dollar Tree store July 8-25. Cash donations are welcome in any amount. The cost to sponsor one backpack is $35. Specify “Back to School program” in the comments.Military families will soon be able to register online to receive school supplies.
