On May 1, with summer right around the corner, Joanne George is bringing Jo-Jo’s Treats back to its old location at 6985 Meridian Road. This is her second year serving summertime favorites out of a trailer. “I was happy with the first year, and hopefully the second will be better,” George said. “I’m excited to see all the kids back.”Last year, George created a pavilion area, complete with picnic tables, for patrons seeking shade on hot summer days.George said her menu will stay the same, except for a couple of new items, such as Frigid Frog brand shaved ice. “It’ll be like Hawaiian shaved ice, only using this (Frigid Frog brand) type of flavoring, which has 12 different flavors,” she said. George has also added baked funnel cakes, a healthier alternative to their fried counterpart.Last year’s favorites on this year’s menu include Flavor Burst soft-serve ice cream, Chicago-style hot dogs, chili-cheese dogs and ice cream for real dogs.Jo-Jo’s Treats will maintain the same hours of operation as last year: Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m.; extended summer hours until 8 p.m. or later (weather permitting).
