As of April, Dr. Ron Ronco, DMD, a Colorado native from Canon City, is the new owner of Meridian Dental. He bought the practice from Dr. Jay Brandon Johnson. Ronco started with Meridian Dental in December 2009, and said he didn’t have to think twice about the transition. “When the opportunity came up to own a practice in an area that I love, I jumped at it,” he said.Ronco, who also holds a degree in chemical engineering from Brigham Young University, began his career building rockets for the aerospace industry. With a family to feed, Ronco was concerned about the fluidity of the industry and potential layoffs, so he turned to his interests in a second career: dentist or U.S. Air Force pilot. The USAF said he was too old to join, so Ronco packed up the family and moved to Kentucky where he earned a doctoral degree in dental medicine at the University of Louisville. After completing his degree, he returned to Colorado and started practicing in Colorado Springs. Eventually, he ended up in Falcon.As part of Meridian Dental, Ronco decided he liked the atmosphere in Falcon. “I’ve been here long enough to realize that I like the attitude of the people out here,” he said. “They just want quality dental work, and that’s it.”Meridian Dental is also home to Dr. Christina Kukura and Dr. Kristen Nichols.
