Falcon residents might notice something different about Kate’s Cafe. It’s now Nana’s Kitchen. Owner Rick Coffelt opened Nana’s Kitchen at 7117 McLaughlin Road in July. He said he wanted to bring Falcon “very simple, very flavorful country cooking” to honor his mother and grandmother, who passed along their passion for food.Coffelt was raised in Oklahoma and spent quite a bit of time on his grandparents’ farm in a small rural community similar to Falcon. When he and his wife (a native of Ellicott, Colo.) moved to the Falcon area, Coffelt said he saw an opportunity to branch out from the software consulting company they own, and achieve the “fulfillment of a dream” with Nana’s Kitchen.”We opened the cafe because I have a passion for it,” Coffelt said. “It’s extremely important to me that people have a great experience. (Nana’s Kitchen) offers simple country cooking the way we think it should be done.”Currently, the cafe is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, offering a traditional Sunday dinner complete with all the fixings. Coffelt said they plan to extend some hours in the near future to include dinner service.Nana’s Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
