The El Paso County Department of Health and Environment will provide free H1N1 flu vaccinations for seniors at various locations in March.”It’s important for seniors and for all members of our community to remember that H1N1 flu still is circulating and can be a serious disease,” said Kandi Buckland, executive director of the Health Department. “H1N1 flu vaccine is plentiful in the community right now, and now is a great time to get vaccinated to protect yourself and your family.”Cases of H1N1 flu are on the decline right now but could increase any time, Buckland said. “Many people still are susceptible because they haven’t been vaccinated,” she said.The March clinics will take place at community centers serving significant senior citizen populations, but anyone older than 6 months of age is eligible to be vaccinated at these clinics as well. The clinics are sponsored by the Health Department in partnership with the Visiting Nurse Association.
