On Aug. 25, Bob Balink of the El Paso County Clerk & Recorder’s office released unofficial results from the Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District recall election. Of the 3,600 registered voters in the district, 817 valid ballots were cast. Unofficial results showed the vote was 405 in favor of the recall and 412 against. The election was called as a result of a citizen-initiated petition to recall Jan Pizzi from the board. Pizzi was elected in May 2008 for a two-year term. Voters were able to vote in the election by requesting a mail-in ballot or by voting at the polling place located at the Community Center West building.Official results of the election are required to be available no later than 17 days after the election and will be available on the clerk and recorder’s Web site at http://car.elpasoco.com/election.
