El Paso County has made a prescription discount card available to all county residents through a joint effort with the National Association of Counties.According to the El Paso County Web site, www.elpasoco.com, the card is free, requires no enrollment form, has no age requirements, has no limits and can be used by all family members. The card is offered through CVS Caremark, a pharmacy benefit services company, and card carriers receive an average 20 percent discount on commonly prescribed medications at most El Paso County retail pharmacies, including Safeway, Walgreens and Wal-Mart in Falcon.According to the El Paso County Web site, the card cannot be used in conjunction with an insurance card but can be used if the prescription is not covered by an insurance plan. The card cannot be used in conjunction with Wal-Mart’s $4 generic prescriptions. It cannot be used for over-the-counter products but it does cover diabetic supplies. It can also be used for pet prescriptions at participating retail pharmacies. The card is available at a variety of locations in El Paso County, including Pikes Peak Library District libraries and many El Paso County offices, such as the clerk and recorder’s office on Powers Boulevard and in the Chapel Hills Mall.Visit www.elpasoco.com/prescription/search.aspx for other locations by zip code. The card can also be printed through www2.caremark.com/naco.
