Black Forest Store relocated May 1 to the Forest Plaza at 11580 Black Forest Road and changed its name to the Black Forest Store and Ponderosa Market.Owners Jack and Bernadette Gilbert are excited to show off their new location and their new addition – The Ponderosa Market. “Working with local producers and distributors, we’ve been able to reduce the price on many of the products we carry,” Gilbert said.The Ponderosa Market offers all-natural Callicrate meats from Ranch Foods Direct, organic produce, Farmers all-natural milk, Black Forest honey, MaraNatha natural peanut butter and gluten-free flour. Ponderosa Market also carries familiar staples like Campbell’s soup, cake mixes, frozen pizzas and high-quality pet foods and household sundries. Also included are local arts and crafts, including Black Forest sweatshirts and baseball caps.The convenience side – Black Forest Store – offers cappuccinos, cook-to-order or take-and-bake pizzas, hotdogs and nachos. With the addition of a kitchen in the new facility, homemade lunches and dinner specials are offered as well. Customers can swap out propane tanks or pick up ice for outdoor barbeques.Customer Travis Ewers is a regular at the store. “It’s local and I like to support local businesses,” Ewers said. Clerks Alex Olivier, Chris Rummell and Courtney Van Dyke are friendly faces at the store, he said.The store and market are open Mondays through Saturdays, from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
