The fourth Veterans’ Home Run 5K run/1K walk will be held Saturday, June 27, at 7 a.m. at Air Academy High School. Veterans’ Home Run is a fun family event open to everyone – runners fast and slow, walkers tall and short. Proceeds will benefit the Colorado Veterans Coalition’s Crawford House for homeless veterans. Crawford House is a nonprofit organization that relies on donations to help with program and facility improvements, as well as help local homeless veterans get back on track as they face challenges.The race registration fee is $15 for veterans and military and $20 for benefactors of the military. The registration fee goes directly to the Crawford House cause. The first 250 registered participants will receive a commemorative VHR09 T-shirt and be eligible for post-race door prizes. To register, visit one of the three Colorado Springs running stores, register online at www.active.com or download a registration form from www.pprrun.org and mail it.Race day registration begins at 6 a.m. and the start time is 7 a.m. The 5K course is in Pine Valley. Paralympian wheelchair athletes are encouraged to participate; the course is ideal for wheeled and tethered runners. The Pikes Peak Road Runners is hosting the Veterans’ Home Run.
