Black Forest Fire and Rescue was honored at the Dec. 10 AARP Chapter 1100 lunch for their support to several community projects. Roberto Rey, Colorado AARP associate state director for community outreach, presented a 2008 Community Partner Award to Black Forest Fire Chief David Ury and Fire Marshall Kerry Smith for the sustained support the fire and rescue department has provided to the Black Forest Community and the local AARP Chapter.During the past year, Black Forest Fire and Rescue partnered with AARP Chapter 1100 for a stroke and heart attack class, the Fight Fraud – Shred It Instead project and also helped collect food and money for the Black Forest Cares food pantry.The Black Forest AARP Chapter 1100 recently participated with filling stockings for needy children for the Salvation Army.
