FHS Homecoming 2008

Beginning Sept. 22, every day was Spirit Day during Falcon School District 49 Homecoming Week.Activities throughout the week included a “fashion disaster,” a “dating game” contest, a karaoke contest, and, of course, the Gnimocemoh. A barbecue, pep rally and powder puff football game rounded out the weeklong celebration.Students had a day off on Friday, but they kicked off the homecoming game with a tailgate party that featured a live band, karate demonstrations, camel rides and more. For $5 a plate, Nawlins BBQ provided the food. After a 30-minute delay because of lightening, the football game between the Falcons and Harrison High School was under way.Harrison made the first touchdown of the game late in the first quarter. With about two minutes left in the second quarter, Brandon Cain scored for Falcon, and Cameron Klunder kicked a field goal. Harrison had 7 points on the board at half time and Falcon led with 10.The game was the first on the new field at Falcon High School. Despite the blustery Falcon wind, the students were excited about using the new field. “The new field is so much better,” said Corey Beardsley, a sophomore at Falcon High School. “It adds to the school spirit.”The marching band, drill team and cheer squad performed at half time. The class floats paraded around the field, before the homecoming court rode in on camels. Nate Spence and Stephanie Thompson were crowned homecoming king and queen. The Falcon High freshmen class won for best float, and the seniors came in No. 1 for the best live float category.Topping off the evening and festivity-filled week, Falcon won the game with a score of 29-7.
