Falcon fire station update

In August, the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the preliminary and final plats for the Rolling Thunder Business Park. The approval is another step toward construction of Falcon Fire Protection District’s new fire station No. 1, which will be located at the business park.According to the application filed with the BOCC by Cygnet Land, LLC, the 12.4-acre development is located east of Golden Sage Road, south of Woodmen Road and on the north side of Rolling Thunder Way. The development will consist of 14 light industrial lots, ranging in size from .45 to 2 acres. At the Falcon fire district’s board meeting Aug. 22, the district’s fire chief, Trent Harwig, said Hammers Construction, the company that will build the new fire station, has pulled the building permit for it.”As you can see, dirt work is going on over there, infrastructure is going in, so the lot is prepared and ready for the construction to begin,” Harwig said.Harwig also provided an update on the building of a Lowe’s home improvement center, saying that Lowe’s has been granted their final plat on the property where fire station #1 is currently located at the intersection of Highway 24 and Old Meridian Road.Once the construction start date is known, the district will schedule a ribbon cutting ceremony. “We’re thinking within thirty days,” Harwig said.
