Farmers State Bank introduces Bucks For Books Campaign

Farmers State Bank announced a campaign to aid the Pikes Peak Library District in its effort to raise money for its new library branch. The campaign, Bucks for Books, will begin in June and continue throughout 2008.According to FSB co-president Joan Lawson, Bucks for Books is designed to raisepublic awareness of this exciting project as well as offer a fun and easy opportunity for everyone in the area to participate.”We’ll be making window clings available for a donation of at least $3,” Lawson said. “People who display the clings in the rear window of their vehicle will not only be showing their support for the project, but will have a chance to win weekly prizes. It’s going to be fun.” Prizes will include gift certificates to local businesses and a grand prize drawing for a Nintendo Wii.Initially, the PPLD Foundation had planned to purchase a new bookmobile only, but with FSB’s offer to donate land just east of its Falcon Branch for a building site; the potential for both a bookmobile and a new library branch became feasible.”We couldn’t be more excited,” said Dolores Fowler, executive officer of the foundation. “In addition to FSB’s land donation we were able to secure over $774,000 in federal grant money in 2007. We have a fundraising goal of $574,200 in 2008. Bucks for Books will certainly help.”The new branch will be a full service, state-of-the-art facility that will serve citizens throughout our area. For more information about the project visit www.yourfsb.com.
