School Board Director Resigns

Falcon School District 49 Board Director Amy McClelland resigned from her board position. In a letter read at the May 27 board meeting McClelland said she decided to resign due to the increasing time constraints of her personal and business obligations.”I have not been able, over the past few months, to fulfill the obligations of this office in the manner in which I feel it is necessary to serve in this position,” she said in the letter.McClelland was elected to the board in 2005 and served 2.5 years of a four-year term. Her resignation is effective immediately.Board members present at the meeting — Dave Martin, Anna Bartha, and Dave Stark — each expressed their appreciation for McClelland’s service and dedication to serving the children of D 49.Grant Schmidt, Falcon district superintendent said the board would likely accept applications for the vacant position. The board will then appoint a replacement to fulfill the remainder of McClelland’s term, Schmidt said.”I’m sorry she has to step down,” said Stetson Elementary PTA president Tammy Harold. “Amy was very responsive to my emails to the board. Even if we didn’t agree with each other she was always very professional.”
