PPCC Falcon Campus gains final approval

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education gave final approval to the new Pikes Peak Community College Falcon campus slated to open this August – just in time for fall semester classes. The new campus will serve the rapidly growing population in Falcon and the Powers corridor, as well as other towns on the eastern plains. The facility will be housed in the old Falcon Middle School building at 11990 Swingline Road, just off Highway 24 and Woodmen Road.According to PPCC President Dr. Tony Kinkel, the collaboration with Falcon District 49 will bring many benefits to the community, for both high school students and adult learners. “Currently, about 22 percent of our students come from the Falcon area, and more than half of those attend the Centennial Campus in the south end of town,” Kinkel said. “The new campus will bring a convenient and affordable college education directly to the Falcon area community.”Beginning August 18, PPCC will offer more than 230 college classes, including a complete associate of arts transfer degree, an AA business transfer degree and the emergency medical services program, with more offerings to come based on the needs of the community.
