A double celebration for Falcon senior program

Delorse Baney has been faithfully coming to Falcon’s senior exercise program since its inception. At the same time the program recognizes its first anniversary on Feb. 3, Baney will celebrate her 86th birthday.”I really like the exercise,” Baney said.” The people are just great.”Baney spent 45 years of her life in Dundy County in Nebraska. “Raising a family,” she said with a smile. Her husband was a farmer and construction worker until his death in 1990. The couple raised four boys and a girl during their years in Nebraska. When her husband died, Baney moved to Tulsa, Okla., where she lived for 14 years before moving to Falcon with her daughter in 2005.Baney now has 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren scattered in Nebraska, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Texas. “I love the skies in Falcon,” she said. “The sunsets and sunrises are just so beautiful.”Besides exercising, Baney said she likes to sew, crochet and quilt. “And when the weather is better, I like to work in the garden,” she said. The Friday exercise class was about to begin, and Baney greeted her friends as they trickled in. “I get much better exercise here. At home, I’m done in 15 minutes,” she said. “It’s just not the same.”See the NFH community calendar for information on the senior exercise program.
