The Muscular Dystrophy Association kicked off its annual “Fill the Boot” campaign in Colorado Springs Aug. 24. Firefighters from the Falcon Fire Protection District have already begun their fundraising efforts.Firefighters throughout the county will be collecting donations as they stand along street corners with their familiar “boot.” The MDA’s purpose is to combat neuromuscular disease through research, programs that include patient services and clinical care and education. The MDA does not receive government grants or United Way funding and does not seek nor receive fees from patients or their families.
