Petersen said when he became the manager, he inherited a situation that the entire state will eventually face – a lack of water resources for the 17,000 residents that depend on CMD for their water. He said Colorado has two sources of water: non-renewable ground water and renewable rain and snow. CMD has instituted strict conservation measures and encouraged residents to xeriscape their yards and limit outdoor water use. Petersen also discussed the possibility of underground water storage. “Fifteen percent of our water is lost through evaporation using surface storage,” Petersen said. He also said recycling and reuse of waste water is another viable process.See “Community Calendar” for information on the meeting dates and time. Visit the Web site at www.falconbusinessleague.com.
