Reining Horse Association

The Eastern Plains Reining Horse Association meeting is the first Wednesday of each month at the Latigo Trails Equestrian Centre meeting room at 6:30 p.m. The EPRHA is a nonprofit National Reigning Horse Association affiliate. Contact Janene at 719-347-2415 or log onto www.EPRHA.NET for more information.On Aug. 18, the Eastern Plains Reining Horse Association will present another jackpot reining event at the Latigo Trails Heritage Centre indoor arena near Black Forest. Jackpot reining events are designed to reward the winners with cash payouts. “To rein a horse is not only to guide him, but also to control his every movement. The best reined horse should be willingly guided or controlled with little or no apparent resistance and dictated to completely,” said Jim Willoughby, NRHA Hall of Fame Inductee.The EPRHA jackpot reining events have a class for just about every level of rider. The club also is planning a benefit show in October to benefit the EPRHA Youth Association Scholarship fund, which helps aspiring equestrians further their academic goals.Riders interested in participating in club events can visit www.EPRHA.net for the latest club activities.
