Hair cuts for a cause

On Sunday, Aug. 5, the Unicorn Salon is sponsoring a fundraiser for the Colorado Springs Police Department’s memorial fund. Owners Rhonda Smith and her sister, Robin Pretzeus, are hosting a four-hour power haircutting marathon.Rhonda and the shop pros – stylists Connie Sprack, Michelle Doyon, Cindy Howe and Jennifer Stephens will cut hair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for donations only. All proceeds will go to the police memorial fund. It’s a way to show appreciation to the police officers, Rhonda said. It’s cuts only – no fluff – no wash and style – just a simple hair cut. Even if you don’t want nor need a hair cut, stop by, throw in a donation and listen to Richard Sealock, a professional singer and guitarist who will be entertaining for about two hours. And grab some refreshments, too.The Unicorn Salon has been open almost 11 months at 7646 McLaughlin Road, next to Espresso’s at Stratfords.
