Commissioners appoint volunteer boards

The El Paso County Board of County Commissioners appointed citizens to serve on various volunteer boards.Board of Adjustment: Wayne M. Timura, Dr. Pat Boone, Cynthia McGraw and Pamela Sheffield were reappointed. The Board of Adjustment deals with issues of physical variances related to the county zoning code.Highway Advisory Commission: Dr. Pat Boone will represent District 3 for the HAC. Stephen Meyer was appointed as an at-large member and Maria Jindra will serve as an associate member. The HAC considers highway and road needs throughout the county and assists with establishing the construction priorities and corresponding budget for the county department of transportation annual project plan.Development Fund Advisory Board: Heather Herber, Greg Timm, Steven Immel, Martin Essigmann, Dean Mabe and Robert Martin were reappointed to the DFAB, which reviews, monitors and makes recommendations concerning the reserve levels and all fees and charges associated with the land development review fee fund.Emergency Services Agency: Valerie Brickell, a nurse practitioner in Colorado Springs, will represent the nursing home position on the ESA board. The ESA ensures a coordinated emergency medical response and transport system between the county commissioners and the Colorado Springs City Council. The agency serves as an advisory board to both government entities and addresses emergency medical needs and concerns of citizens in the Pikes Peak Region.Housing Authority: Sherrie Vogt, of US Bank, was reappointed to represent mortgage finance on the housing authority. Chad Wright was reappointed to represent the city of Colorado Springs. This board helps promote the availability of decent, safe and sanitary housing accommodations in the county for people with low to moderate income levels.Forestry and Weed Advisory Commission: Dean Sams with the El Paso County Farm Bureau and Norman Armentrout, DVM will serve on this commission, which develops and reviews action plans for the integrated management of state mandated weeds. Park Advisory Board: Three citizens were reappointed to this board. Kimberly Tyler-James, Jane Fredman and Ed Brown. The Park Advisory Board reviews and comments on items and proposals related to Parks Department policies, philosophies and objectives.Planning Commission: Steve Sery, Verlin Dickman, John Vohland, David Kunstle and Steve Hicks were all reappointed to serve on the planning commission. They will review planning petitions and make recommendations to the county commissioners regarding land use requests and prepare a master plan for unincorporated communities.
