SCORE speaks to Falcon business owners

At the March meeting of Falcon Business League, Steve Imke explained the purpose of the SCORE program and the services it offers to businesses and nonprofit organizations. SCORE stands for Service Corps of Retired Executives Association. The program, manned by 40-some retired (some actively working) business owners and professionals, provides counseling to business owners and potential business owners at no charge. The counseling includes business plans, marketing, organization and financial strategies.Imke told FBL members that a restaurant operation is the No. 1 failed business. He said that many people think that because they like to cook they should start a restaurant. ìThe day a guy decides to open a restaurant, his cooking days are over,î Imke said.SCORE counselors can help set someone straight on the everyday tasks of owning a business.
