Find out April 2The annual meeting of the El Paso County Department of Health and Environment takes place April 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Regional Development Center at 2880 International Circle in Colorado Springs.This yearís program is ìHow safe are you? Facing public health challenges.îEPCDHE staff will discuss their efforts to promote safety, health and quality of life for residents of the county. Attendees will learn the importance of the following:ï Inspecting restaurants to prevent food-borne illnessï Safeguarding the community against the spread of infectious diseases through contact investigations, case reporting, field surveillance and public awarenessï Educating the community about safe practices that promote good health, such as proper handwashingï Coordinating with local, state and federal emergency response agencies to prepare the community for a possible flu pandemicï Providing 24/7 public health services to ensure a safe communityThis yearís event also will address the Health Departmentís mounting funding challenges as the population and public health concerns continue to grow.Interactive displays and demonstrations will complement the presentations.
